EMails from the readers on John Cena's Injury and the State of WWE

My new friend Vince from Toronto came in with a terrific email on Cena, and I'd like to share it with you. I'm going to go through all of them and publish more later, but this is the first one, and i think it's poignant.

know you like him and you don't know why people hate him because he's the only one on the roster that can carry the ball as you put it

the thing is, i don't think people dislike him because they don't think he's the best on the roster, i think people, me included just miss the old days

before cena, there was the rock, stone cold, bret hart, shawn michaels in their prime, undertaker, i remember when raw was must watch television, those guys were just so awesome, so entertaining and if cena was in wwf during those days, he would be on heat fighting some japanese lightweight

if you look at the comments made against cena, it's always "i wish rock would kick his ass, i wish stone cold would come and kick his ass", it's nothing against him, he's just not half as good or half as entertaining or even 1/4 as cool as those guys were

and yes he's probably the top on this roster, but the roster is not exactly a strong one is it?

and i know you hate it when people say cena can't wrestle, but the thing is, the issue is not whether or not he can wrestle, i think a big reason why people dislike cena, is that his personality just stinks, he comes off as an annoying little punk bitch, people just say "he can't wrestle" as simply another insult because they don't like his personality.......wrestling fans don't care if a guy can wrestle or not as long as he can entertain, the biggest name in wrestling history cannot wrestle to save his life.......ahem hogan

Amen brother. With most wrestlers out there, you either hate him or love him and that doesn't change. With Cena, those who hated him eventually loved him. Those who loved him though, always loved him. Mad respect to someone who's dream as a kid was to be a wrestler and he never gave up. There's even pictures and videos chronicling (is that a word?) his dream from conception to reality. Mad respect.

Good post, and a fair point about Hogan, and the whole Cena character. I only have one problem with it, and here it is. Cena IS the Rock. Only White.
He's an ass, obnoxious, arrogant and kind of stupid. The only real difference between himself and the Rock, is Rocky could cut a promo that appealed everyone, not just 13 year old boys.
But then again, I never liked the Rock...
Now Austin, there was a man made for the sport! If only WWE had a convincing badass (let’s all keep our fingers crossed for Palumbo!) then the show would be a lot more interesting!

hey im the original poster of this message and i would just like to add this one last thing that i thought of

i think people hate wrestling as a whole at this point in time

and john cena is at the top of a brand that in general sucks, so that's why he gets picked on the most

batista, lashley, edge, non of them have any kind of personality whatsoever, fit finley???, don't be ridiculous

if anyone of those guys were made the top guy by vince mcmahon, they'd hate him just as much as they hate cena now, if not more

i personally think that cena would be awesome as a heel character, remember when the rock first started, he was a good guy and they hated him, then they turned him heel and that's when he took off and became the big star that he is, the only problem is that, if cena turned heel, there is nobody he could go against, edge, orton, triple hhh, non of those guys could be good guys, whereas the rock had austin, sid, undertaker, and a bunch of other guys

as it relates to what hugo said, whether you like the rock or not, the rock had this ability to move the crowd that nobody on the currrent roster can do, when he does that "finally the rock has come back...." bit, they go crazy

just go to youtube, and watch clips from the attitude era and how crazy the crowd went and compare it to now......that's the biggest difference between cena and the rock, i actually feel sorry for cena sometimes because i can see that he tries really hard but gets nowhere with the crowd on most nights

lastly, i honestly don't hate cena half as much as i hate kennedy, this dude is the most irritating piece of crap in wrestling history, i mean when u see bad guys u hate them but they are doing their job of being a good villain, kennedy whenever he's about to do his mic thing and screaming out his name like a retard, i literally have to change the channel i get so annoyed.....somebody please put him to sleep

To the original poster:

Much agreement on all points except for Kennedy. He is just what wrestling has always been good at. There are a few guys that I have felt the way about that you do about Kennedy: "For the love of God, get him off the TV!!!". In reality, wrestling HAS to have these guys. If they didn't, we wouldn't watch. Looking back, almost all of the guys that I just hated ended up being integral parts of the show for a long time. I think Kennedy is right there with them, as far as the hated persona goes.
