Can we keep the subject?

An anonymous comment on my opinions on the CNN documentary pokes fun at Cena's wrestling ability, and shows that the SUBJECT matter was not being discussed in any way, shape, or form. Whether you like the man, or you hate the man, I don't care. I am simply trying to engage in a debate about a talent in the world of pro wrestling that had his reputation destroyed by a so called unbiased news agencies.

It'd be nice if we could stay on subject. FOR THE MAJORITY of you that do, I thank you. for the ones who want to take pot shots, well, anonymous comments will be eliminated forthwith, if it continues.

Honestly I think Cena was portrayed dishonestly by CNN in the interview. I think CNN lacks journelistic integrity. They knew cutting his piece would make him look bad but they did it because they're trying to win back people who switched to foxnews. They went into this documentary saying every one of these guys are taking steroids and by hook or crook, we're going to prove this. They have stooped to the level of a Michael Moore documentary. I'm not surprised by their actions because I saw what happened when the Navy Seal was awarded the Congressional Medal Of Honor. The story did not appear on the main page, it was hidden in the site and you had to search to find it.

Let's face it CNN chose the name "Death Grip" for their documentary because they're getting beat in the ratings war. They feel this controversy will gain them viewers. After all, they have a death grip on their viewers as the network is going down.

I like John Cena. His appearance on the wrestling scene was much needed when he came into the WWE. Before that, we were seeing the same old wrestlers facing each other. There's nothing wrong with that but I think each Wrestling company has to make new stars to keep their products fresh and interesting. New faces also brings new viewers and that is critical strategy in pro-wrestling. Nobody wants to see the mega powers explode for the 1,000th time. It's old and uninsteresting after the 2nd or 3rd time.

Cena is a polarizing character, Mike. People love him or hate him. I personally think this anti-Cena backlash is getting old. I loved the old gimmick, but he still gives 110%.

The thing that stuck me about the interview itself was not the one sentence brain-fart he said, but that CNN hid how well spoken he was about his youth and training. The mainstream will never except wrestling as a legit sport because of the "entertainment" of it. Still, the efforts of these performers should be commended, and not jumped on because they can't dead lift 400lb.

I don't know, I think Cena could clear 400 :) It'd be close though. Anyway, all wrestling ability aside (and I think that Cena is a great worker personally, have since the hour long funfest with Michaels), the man was mistreated by the media. But as my film teacher once told me,

"It's easy to change the truth if the money is right, especially when there's a camera involved".

If they're that hungry for ratings, I truly pity them. But they have no need to go out like this...

Sorry I meant the critics couldn't clear 400.

I don't know, some of those critics are big lads... anyway, Cena, in fairness to the man, is an absolute workhorse. Personally I don't like him, but I respect him. This whole CNN thing is not even worth talking about, I'm surprised McMahon hasn't demanded a public apology or at least a retraction. As far as I can tell at the moment CNN are guilty of libel; I wouldn't blame WWE if they sued.

It's just too bad that the only people who'll see the unedited version are wrestling fans.

The non-wrestling fans, the people who've made up their minds that since Chris Benoit did it, everyone is doing it.

WWE needs the trust from the non-wrestling fans, but as long as it's documentaries are presented by biased media like CNN, WWE will be on the attack of everyone.
