From where I sit, Smackdown last night was extremely enjoyable. Undertaker and Batista's segment in the beginning was very good. I love Taker's less is more idea, using signs and facial expressions. It hits home with me exponentially. I thought the Jamie Noble vs. Rey match and Kane vs. MVP matches were absolutely terrific for television. Noble is double tough, and damn good at what he does, and he and Rey tore the house down. Kane vs. MVP was also double tough, and it continues to broaden the respect I have garnered for MVP over the past few months. The man can deliver in the ring what he does with his mouth, bar none.
I thought the Foley/Coach/Hornswoggle thing was funny as hell. Silliness isn't bad, when it's basic. When you try and get complicated, it gets corny. This was silly, but it was fun. I loved it.
The main event, albeit a little predictable, was enjoyable none the less. A little attempt to bond the rivals leading in to Hell in a Cell. I have to say, though, although I have admonished Batista for his ability in the ring on many occasions, he and Taker do seem to have a chemistry, and even can make oafs like Khali and Henry look good.
While I think I am against JBL returning to the ring as he is a blossoming terrific color analyst, I have to say that if he does, it's a benefit for WWE. The man can talk, and he can probably still back it up. If he does come back, so be it. I hope he's healthy, and I hope he knows what he's doing. (And, I hope, for our sake, we get Taz back at the color booth for Smackdown, because Cole by himself would make my hair hurt.)
Although HiaC has been done ad nauseum with Undertaker, I'll probably still buy the DVD, because how many more of these matches does his body have left? I could probably answer it this way.
Not too many.
I am storing energy waiting to go to NYC for ROH Glory By Honor VI night 2. The reviews from Philadelphia yesterday were not as stellar as I had anticipated. I am not expecting much from Misawa in the ring as he is definitely "experienced" from the age department. The fact that I get a chance to witness a Global Honored Crown Heavyweight title defense tonight is worthwhile tonight and damn historic from where I sit. I'll be in the back studying. Count on it. If you see my big mug, come over and say hello.
