Thank you, Smackdown vs. Raw 2008, and my son....

First, thanks a lot for all the comments lately. Makes me think one of two things. Either A)I'm doing something right with this blog, and people are enjoying it, or B) I'm just enough of an a** for people to want to write and tell me what to do with myself. Either which way, I'm having a blast doing this thing, and as long as you guys keep writing 'em, I'll keep dishin' em.

I got my hands today, luckily, on Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 for the PS 2 AND the DS. Quick DS note. The game is "eeeeeehhhhhhh" for the DS. I know its WWE's first major venture in to that system in a long time, if ever, and the game's graphics are, for the system, very nicely done. However, the gameplay isn't easy, its a ton of stylus work, and the match play is difficult to keep flowing. I'm not done with it yet by a long shot, but the fact is, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who may be interested in this game for the DS system. Not unless you have a lot of time to focus on the gameplay.

As for the PS 2 version, it has some DRASTIC changes in its control scheme (irish whips, grapple comands, etc.) than 2007. Some other minor and subtle changes are apparent, but so far from someone who just recently entered the SVR regime, it rocks. there's a new "tournament mode" where you can literally create your own style tournament for a shot at the title or a King of the Ring or a Beat the clock deal. The Hall of Fame set up is nice for more advanced users, and I haven't dove in to the season mode yet (WWE 24/7) but it looks appealing. The graphics are unreal. I'm gonna enjoy it. I'm still working on SVR 2007, as well, so I got double my pleasure and double my fun. I was actually even thinking of picking up SVR 2006, but I thought that may have been a bit much. (Anyone who says different, lemme know).

My son, for anyone interested, is home. We didn't get any answers from the time he spent in the hospital, but for now, we at least appear to have dodged the potential bullet of having to force him to go through a worse surgery that he went through in the past. It's difficult to try and explain what we were looking dead in the face, but in lamen's terms, it basically was an expansion of the size of his skull. Jon went through it once already, and we were told then he was a candidate to have to go through it again. For now, we dodged that bullet.

As far as why his headaches are so apparent and so frequent, we don't know. Extremely frustrating to see your youngest in such discomfort, and not be able to do much to relieve his discomfort. A lot of my venom and rage that you see in this column is frustration about that very fact.

Anyway, I'm tired. I collapsed for close to two hours tonight after gorging myself on Chinese food. I'll see you guys later. Again, for anyone who has expressed concern about my son, thank you. For the comments throughout this thing, thank you.

And for the anonymous comments bashing me, well, c'est la vie! :)

For the record... Tournament mode isn't new... it was in a lot of the first SmackDown video games
