When I first heard that Smackdown was leaving CW and presumably returning to cable, one thought popped into my head and I'd like to hear your thoughts on it. Years ago, before TNA was on Spike, Smackdown was on Thursday nights on CW. I remember that due to scheduling conflicts CW had to move Smackdown to Fridays and Vince was none to happy about it, because he knew that Thursday night was better for the show than Friday night, what with Friday being the night people go out to eat and see movies and whatnot, instead of stay home and watch wrestling. And he's right, Thursday night is a better night for a wrestling program than Friday. Granted, Smackdown has had success on Fridays, but now that their competition is on Thursday nights, do you think ol' Vince will request to whatever cable network Smackdown lands on that the show be put on Thursday nights to one: Be on a night he originally preferred and two: Put his foot down on TNA's throat and make them squirm because, let's face it, if Impact had to go head-to-head with an established brand like Smackdown each week that could be their death nail.
It does make sense. I wonder if WWE is that smart. Only time will tell.
