I know, I should write a column on this, but I didn't see the PPV live, and I don't think its fair for me to try and waste the next chapter on something I haven't seen yet. I WILL, but not yet. I'll wait and spend the $20 to get the DVD. But, I do have some opinions.
First, I think it was lame as hell that McMahon gave the title to Orton at the beginning of the night. It's so damn typical. Why couldn't Orton FIGHT to be declared champion? Yes, I know, at the end of the night, he did fight, and regain the title, but it's still a tainted first time as champion when he was awarded the prize. Nobody hands you the keys to the city on a platter. I didn't like it when Bischoff gave the Game the World title back in the day, and I don't like it now.
I have to admit, I was initially upset when I heard Triple H was in the match with Orton, and especially shocked to hear it was the opening contest. But, when you look at what happened later in the night, it obviously made sense. And unfortunately, it obviously made sense to put Trips in the picture for the title, because frankly, if Jericho wasn't confirmed and signed 100%, who else would've been ready to take it? Kennedy? Obviously not. Who else, if you're not going to go interpromotional, which is definitely out of WWE's creative thinking.
Most of the emails I got picked the Umaga/Triple H match to be involved with the title in a gimmick of sorts, a fatal four way or something to that nature. While I have to admit, defending the title three times in one night is definitely unique, it's damn careless and dangerous, because you're already razor thin in your talent pool, and you're putting a guy who just came back after 10 months of rehab in to three matches with two men who are lethal in their craft? I don't care who the hell it is, it's dangerous, and its careless.
I gotta also say, I was suprised the end went the way it did. Not with Orton regaining the title, becuase I thought it had to be that way, otherwise Orton would have a tremendous amount of griping to do inside the confines of the company, being passed over after nearly a six month program with Cena because of Cena's injury. It was the right move to put the belt on Orton, if only for a short time until the Game is truly ready to take the throne long term. It's just kind of sad that the Game's 11th time as WWE/World Champion has to be under these circumstances. It almost makes it appear like Trips is TRYING to break Flair's record, which makes it almost worthy of a Barry Bonds style asterisk.
Remember something, people, this is all speculation. I don't know the inner workings, I never will, its just what I felt when I heard about this as I woke up to prepare for work tonight. I defy someone to challenge me otherwise that you didn't feel something to the same effect.
Moving forward, its not a surprise Beth Phoenix won the women's championship, but I hope for the women of WWE's sake, that it's not for too long, because Beth is dangerous. Not bad dangerous, just dangerous from a lethality standpoint. Most of the women are very goregous in their physical appearance, but a match with Phoenix is liable to change that, and that's just down right scary.
Having the prison door fall on Batista's back is also scary as hell. Kind of makes me think about my opinions on the Animal. Doesn't change them, but it does make me think.
Why couldn't they do some form of an advertisement for the six man tag? It was a good booking.
And why the hell are they saving MVP & Hardy vs. Undertaker & Kane for free television? That is absolutely mind boggling. A pay per view with out the Undertaker or Kane, and three Triple H matches. Weird.
Ok. that's it for now. More as it comes in to my head.

I was one of those people really hoping it would be Jericho last night but he didn't even show up at the PPV all there was was another save_us 222 spot.
I heard that during the Batista/Khali match there was a true holy shit moment when Batista was hanging to the inner cage and actually leapt across the open space to the second cage wall. I may not be a Batista fan but that truly sounds like an "I can't believe he did that" spot.
Personally I thought dropping the Undertaker in there somewhere as a sudden contender to the WWE title would have made sense, why use Trips three times when you only have two main eventers on the entire Raw roster?
As for Vince trying to just hand off the belt to Randy Orton I fully expected that because that's EXACTLY the kind of lame angle the WriterMonkeys would come up with. It wouldn't have suprised me if Vince would have named himself world champion and then just lay down for Randy to pin him ala Kevin Nash and Hollywood Hogan back in WCW
jesus h christ, if Vince did that, I would've lost my effing mind.
