Post Raw Thoughts

I should've done this last night, but if you're a frequent visitor here, you could probably guess why I wasn't up to it. Anyway, some quick Raw thoughts from last night.

I wonder if the inter brand promotional warfare last night wasn't just a precursor to Survivor Series, but a omen of a one branded WWE coming sooner rather than later. I have read that speculation is out there, and, although it may cost a lot of people their jobs in the process, it's probably not a bad idea.

A 10 Diva tag match at the PPV. I really like the divas, they're incredibly good to look at, but that match has bathroom break written all over it.

The opening segment last night was killer in the beginning, but it crapped out to end it. Batista showing up, followed by Taker... they should've fought, sanctioned or not. Bringing Cade & Murdoch out for a squash just made the World tag team champions look awfully weak.

I am very glad that Jerry Lawler got involved in the Santino Marella skit. I have zero problem with Lawler occasionally going to war, but Jim Ross getting physical is just wrong. It was fun to see Lawler cold cock Marella in the jaw, and then beat him later in the night.

Is it me, or did it look like Orton really did some damage to Michaels' knee when he clipped him last night?

I haven't read the report yet, but I am interested to see why Kennedy was pulled out of the match with Triple H last night. Obviously, from the past, H vs. Umaga has more marquis value, but it still would've been nice to see H vs. Kennedy.

Two more. One. Although I have ENJOYED IMMENSELY the slow burn of the Matt Hardy/MVP thing, its time to get some US title matches on PPV again. They made their point as tag team champs. It's time to move this feud forward.

I am also VERY disappointed at the AWFULLY predictable deal with the save_us videos. I am glad though to see them finally acknowledge it, and see some closure being possible for next week. I didn't mind this campaign, although it was getting a tad tedious with its length, but.....

A friend of mine was mentioning to me in some emails about the possibility that the save_us videos could've been Big Show returning, and that was intriguing to think about, but after last night's developments, it's a virtual lock that its Jericho for next monday. I mean, if "BREAK_THE_WALLS" doesn't tell you who's it going to be, nothing will.

Don't get me wrong, I have zero problem with Jericho returning, but it could've been a little bit more cryptic. Now, it's just almost anti-climatic, and that, I think, wasn't the point of the whole two month campaign.

The six man match, the Hardys and Mysterio vs. Kennedy, MVP, and Finlay was fun. Rey and Finlay have a good thing going. It's showing a side of Rey I didn't think existed, a more hard hitting, ground and pound side. It's nice.

How is anyone going to beat Beth Phoenix for the women's title? Every single woman she's been up against, even Candice as champion, has been made to look weak. I am guessing Mickie James is next up again, and MAYBE, she can outwit Phoenix's strength, but it's not going to be easy. Anyone else outside of Victoria, and it would be horrible television to watch.

I think that's it. If I missed something, well, I'm sorry. I'm a little frustrated with everything that's been going on in my personal life, specifically my son in the hospital.

I'll probably watch EC-Dub for the first time live in a long time tonight. Oughta be really interesting.

See ya.

I hated RAW last night. The faces won every match (with exception of Beth). That's boring simply because the faces win every match lately.

Oh well.. my biggest problem with that is Jerry Lawler. Someone who hasn't wrestled a real match in years and someone who should move on with his career was scripted to win over a younger superstar just for the cheap pop.

When was the last time Santino was able to back up his words?

I didn't have a problem with Jerry Lawler wrestling. However, you have to remember they were in his hometown so the WWE wanted to give them a little something extra. In Memphis, if Jerry is performing the tickets sell.

As for Santino, it was probably a dream come true. Most of the younger stars love being in the ring with one of the veterans like Jerry Lawler. I'm sure the youngsters like seeing how they measure up to wrestling hall of famer.

I thought they were in Topeka, Kansas last night. Even according to wrestleview and onlineworldofwrestling.com they were in Kansas.

If they were in Memphis (or any part of Tennessee) I could see a reason for Lawler's involvement and winning.

Yes, it must have been an honor for Santino to job for Lawler, but one has to look at his record. For the last month or so, he's been either getting squashed by someone bigger, talked trash about Austin only to get doused with beer (or water, I didn't see any foam), and then beaten by someone who hasn't wrestle a real match in ages.

Santino doesn't appear as a threat anymore.. he comes off as a pest now rather than someone the faces should worry about.

Santina last backed up his words the night he was plucked out of the crowd in Italy. He's supposed to be a pest anyway, beat the guys under him, lose the guys above him, there are worst ways to make a living, such as being a wrestler employed by Ring of Honor

That's an awfully hateful thing to say about Ring of Honor. Just because someone bashes RAW or Smackdown! doesn't automatically make them some kind of demon who only likes the indies. Personally I love all wrestling, and find things I hate with every promotion that I come across. I love the WWE, although the wrestling sometimes gets repetitive. TNA is cool when the stories make sense. ROH has the best pure wrestling I've seen in forever, but the pacing suffers because of it. And I detest Adam Pearce. Others, like CHIKARA, CZW, IWA, FIP, PWG, all have their strengths and weaknesses, but they're good in their unique ways.

that would be my response to the anonymous guy (or gal). As to my RAW thoughts, I didn't get the chance to see it. From what I've heard, I can't choose one way or the other.

And from a money standpoint, a non-exclusive contract (as with most indy feds) means that wrestlers work for multiple promotions, so they can make a really good living without being in the big leagues.

And now you know. Thank you and goodnight!

I love that comment about worst ways of making a living in reference to ROH. That was classic!
