From my buddy Lonnie...
Chris blew the house off with his appearance. In hind
site, he did make an appearance on Foxnews and
basically stated that even if he was going back to
wrestling, he wouldn't say anything for sure because
he wanted to keep it a surprise. I see he's still in
phenominal shape after his vacation from Wrestling.
Just the other night, I watched 6-12-05 One night
stand and saw his match with Lance Storm. It will be
interesting to see if he still has a lot of ring rust.
I'm expecting some good entertainment from Jericho's
reappearance. Think of the feud's they could put a
fresh Chris Jericho in.
Rocky has this to say...
So the mystery of the save_us promos is finally over and Chris Jericho is back in the WWE. One of the good things coming out of this is that the era he was in fans still remember so its not like people don't know who he is as a wrestler. I wonder though just how effective he can be. Jericho looks to be in the best shape of his life and seems to really have bulked up in his time away. One of the main questions people will want an answer to quickly is if ring rust will effect him and if so just how long will that last. With all three brands basically in a rotating drum within each others' programs he is going to make a tremendous impact if his main home is RAW and will really help ratings if he appears on Smack down. With the rotating drum style of scheduling now in the WWE this could really be a big boost if he ever gets a chance to show up in his old stomping ground of ECW. Even though of course its no where near the ECW he was in early in his career he can give that company a big boost just on his presence. Its amazing to think about the match ups that could end up happening with the return of Y2J. With him on Raw he could feud with Triple H and have Triple H return as a heel. Chris Jericho's return to the WWE may have just been a blessing for the ratings that the WWE needs right now.
And lastly, my friend Alex has this to say...
Aright, so I know anybody with an internet connection pretty much knew
what was going to happen and it did. Monday night saw the return of
the most charismatic wrestler short of The Rock in WWE history, and I
must say, I was a little disappointed. First off were the save_us
videos. In the beginning, when they first started airing I was as
intrigued as anybody. Obviously it was hyping the coming back of a
huge superstar as the phrase "2nd coming" was present in all the
videos. But who was it? Being the wrestling fan that I am, I was
scouring the internet looking for insight on the videos. I began to
see more and more people talking about Chris Jericho and if they
slowed down the save_us videos there were various clues hinting at his
return. I was definately pumped to hear this speculation as Jericho
was one of my favorite wrestlers of all time before he left the
business 2 1/2 years ago. So on and on WWE went through the motions,
week after week airing a different binary code video. I have to admit,
even though the clues pointed in the direction of Jericho since the
first video which was entitled "Save_us.222", nobody really knew who
it was going to be. Up until last week, WWE was doing a great job of
keeping the mystery out there and keeping people guessing. Where they
dropped the ball big time was in the last week before Jericho's debut
last night on RAW. First off was the last save_us video which, unless
you just started watching wrestling or have been completely oblivious
for the past decade, just flat out gave away that it was Jericho who
was returning because it said "BREAK_THE_WALLS" at the end of the
video. Whoever thought of the idea for the last video should be fired
from WWE. It was too obvious. A second group of people who should be
fired from WWE were the people who let the newest WWE Magazine leak
out on the internet. If people were still having doubts after the last
save_us video, then it became pretty much impossible to have doubts
once everyone saw Jericho on the cover of the upcoming issue. Poor
planning by WWE during the last week leading to his redebut.
Secondly I would like to comment on the actual debut last night of
Jericho on RAW. Aright so I'm pretty sure you watched RAW last night,
so you know that the opening was the torch runner and as soon as I saw
this was just like, "what the hell is WWE coming up with now". So ok,
the torch runner was a little out of place in my opinion, although I
understand the symbolism with Orton. So here comes the torch runner
running into the arena ready to literally and figuratively pass the
torch to Randy Orton and......WHAM!!! he gets clotheslined by some
"unknown" person. As soon as I saw him get clotheslined I knew it was
Jericho only to have my thoughts confirmed when the camera panned out
to him doing his trademark pose. So then Orton is in the middle of the
ring and the binary code starts up on the titantron. I sat up in my
seat in excitement because here comes a piece of wrestling history and
out comes Jericho.....in a glitter and sequence vest and tight leather
pants. I mean c'mon. That didn't instantly kill the mood for me but it
was close. I thought this was Chris Jericho, one of the most respected
wrestlers in the history of the business coming to save us from Randy
Orton, and we get someone who looks like they should be in an all male
burlesque club. Now I was reading a live report from RAW last night
and the person who wrote it said the pop for Jericho was one of the
loudest in the past 5 years. I don't know what WWE did, but I think
they turned the audience volume down a little too much for TV viewers
because I barely heard any people chanting/screaming. I assumed it was
going to be a loud pop but as I was watching I honestly thought people
were apathetic about it because they knew who was going to return. But
apparently either my hearing is going or WWE hit the mute button on
the crowd that night because I didn't hear anything. So all in all I
was disappointed with the return of Chris Jericho, not because of who
he is (because I love him as a wrestler and a performer), but because
of the mismanagement on the part of WWE. If they wanted a real debut
for Jericho, they should have went to YouTube and watched his debut in
1999. Now THAT was a debut. Not the garbage we saw last night.
